MANILA, Philippines—NLEX forward Kenneth Ighalo sacrificed witnessing the birth of his first child to fulfill his duties with his club.
Ighalo welcomed the birth of baby Kiera while he is inside the PBA Bubble in Clark. While it’s tough to be away during a life-changing occasion, he knows it’s part of being a father.
“I’m super happy that I’m a daddy,” said Ighalo in Filipino as per NLEX’s Twitter account.
WARRIOR BABY. Super happy na daddy na ako. Noong tinawagan ako, gusto ko na umuwi lalo na nung nakita ko si baby. Super saya at malungkot na wala ako dun sa tabi nila, pero i have a duty to do. I have to provide for the family. Praise God 🙏🏽 – Kenneth Ighalo#ArangkadaNLEX pic.twitter.com/A12Fs5p8GL

“When they were calling me I really wanted to go home and see my baby. I’m ecstatic but also sad that I’m not there beside them, but I have a duty to do. I have to provide for the family. Praise God.”
Ighalo also shared pictures of his baby on Instagram.t
“Thank you dear Lord for the gift of life, all glory to You. I’m now a dad,” posted Ighalo.
He also shared a photo of his baby with their pet cat Simba watching over.
For now, Ighalo can focus first on helping the Road Warriors improve from their 0-2 start.
