3×3 league cleared to tip off after zero positive test
MANILA, Philippines — Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 is set to start the President’s Cup after no player and staff tested positive for COVID-19.
A total of 58 players were tested when they arrived at Inspire Academy in Calamba on October 17, with not a single one testing positive for the virus.
Article continues after this advertisementAnother 122 individuals, who were comprised of league officials, staff, and essential workers, were also tested.
“The 2020 Chooks to Go Pilipinas 3×3 President’s Cup will therefore commence on October 21 at 1:00 pm,” said the league’s medical consultant Dr. Butch Ong, who’s a member of the University of the Philippines Science and Society Program.
The first teams tested were Family’s Brand Sardines-Zamboanga City Chooks, Uling Roasters-Butuan City, Bacolod Master Sardines, Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards, Palayan City Capitals, Big Boss Cement-Porac MSC Green Gorillas, and Pasig-Sta. Lucia Realtors who arrived in Calamba on Wednesday morning.
Article continues after this advertisementZamboanga Peninsula Valientes MLV, Pagadian City-Rocky Sports, Petra Cement-Roxas City ZN Rockies, Sarangani Marlins, and Bicol Paxful 3×3 Pro arrived Thursday.
A preseason tournament will take place on Monday, three days before the start of the official matches on Wednesday.
The next legs will tip off on Friday, Oct. 25, and Oct. 27. The Grand Finals, which has a P1 million top prize, will be played on Oct. 30.
