MANILA, Philippines — Putting her animosity with Angela Lee aside, Denice Zamboanga is raring to get her campaign going in next year’s Atomweight World Grand Prix.

Zamboanga and Lee recently exchanged jabs on social media, but the undefeated Filipino knows the only way to settle the score is to win the Grand Prix tournament and challenge for the crown.

“I am so pumped for this tournament. I’m looking forward to competing for this ultra prestigious title. This will be the most challenging competition that no female fighter in ONE Championship history has ever faced,” said Zamboanga.

“To all the other female fighters who will be competing, it will be an honor to face you all in this tournament. A lot of people want to see me and Angela fight, so I will get the Grand Prix belt and then I’m on to the Atomweight World Title at the end of 2021.”

The 23-year-old Zamboanga is already the No. 1 ranked contender but Lee’s pregnancy forced ONE Championship founder and CEO Chatri Sityodtong to announce a Grand Prix instead with Lee unable to defend her belt for the foreseeable future.

Zamboanga is 5-0, including a 3-0 record since making his ONE debut back in 2019. She last fought in August where she scored a first-round submission over Watsyapinya Kaewkhong.
