Butuan City claims 3×3 Leg 3 crown, survives Pasig

MANILA, Philippines—Butuan City-Uling Roasters went through the gauntlet and escaped with a tight 21-20 (9:42.6) win over Pasig-Sta. Lucia Realtors to capture the Leg 3 title of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 President’s Cup Sunday at Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba.

Franky Johnson, who had a horrible shooting night, drilled the P100,000 two-pointer over the tight defense of Jeckster Apinan for the Uling Roasters’ final field goal and first title of the competition.

Chico Lanete carried much of the offense for Butuan City with eight points while Johnson added six.

“I told them that they should never doubt themselves because we always have a chance,” said Lanete in Filipino. “We know that we can always play better no matter what.”

Chris De Chavez added four points while JR Alabanza pitched in three points for the Uling Roasters.

The Realtors pocketed P30,000 for their runner-up finish.
