MANILA, Philippines—Joshua Munzon and Alvin Pasaol just ruled their last domestic 3×3 tournament but they’re already looking forward to putting it some more work.
Following their title run in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 President’s Cup, Munzon and Pasaol immediately turned their focus to training for the coming Fiba 3×3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Munzon and Pasaol are the no.1 and no. 2 ranked players in the country. They helped the country win the gold medal when they teamed up with the PBA’s Moala Tautuaa and CJ Perez in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
“We need to practice Mo and CJ early January and start training together for the OQT,” said Pasaol after helping lead Family’s Brand-Zamboanga City Chooks to their 22-19 win over Nueva Ecija in the grand finals Friday at Inspire Academy in Calamba.
Munzon said that they have to get as much practice time as possible to build chemistry since Perez and Tautuaa are also busy with their commitments with TerraFirma and San Miguel, respectively, in the PBA.
“The most important thing is really staying in shape but if we could get together by January, it will help our chemistry a lot,” said Munzon.
After getting delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 3×3 OQT is now set for May 26-30, 2021 in Graz, Austria.
