MANILA, Philippines—James De Los Santos’ momentum in eKata competitions is far from stopping.
The world’s No.1 eKata player notched his 19th gold medal after topping the eChampions Trophy World Series #2 and besting South Africa’s Silvio Cerone-Biagioni, the no.3 in the world, 25.2-23.7 in the finals.
De Los Santos’ performance was also under pressure as he had less than an hour to complete his routine at Maharlika Karatedo Kai of the Philippines International’s dojo in Taguig as super typhoon Rolly was set for Manila on Sunday.
“Despite the time pressure, we succeeded. But also because of the possibility of a brownout due to the typhoon, we rushed back home to upload our videos. And fortunately again, we succeeded,” wrote De Los Santos on his Facebook post.
De Los Santos also expressed his joy in his students’ medal haul in the same tournament.
