There was a lot of hype heading into Ravena’s debut and the 23-year-old Filipino star did not disappoint as he showcased his ability to attack the basket and create plays for his team.
Ravena’s first point came at the free throw line at the 8:41 mark of the opening quarter while his first field goal—a two-handed dunk—followed shortly.
“I’m here to do whatever it takes to help the team win and If I have to drive, I have to rebound and if I have to shoot, I’ll do it. I’ll do my best,” Ravena said.
The 6-foot-2 guard arrived in Japan last October 15 but he had to serve a mandatory 14-day quarantine period before he was finally allowed to join NeoPhoenix.
Hayato Kawashima sank a pair of free throws with 3.6 seconds left to give NeoPhoenix the victory after Shimane battled back from 10 points down.
