MANILA, Philippines — The case of former University of Santo Tomas head coach Aldin Ayo for his involvement in the “Sorsogon bubble” remains status quo, as per UAAP executive director Atty. Rebo Saguisag.
The UAAP has yet to tackle the appeal made by Ayo following his indefinite ban from the league.
“I know there have been reports that out from the local police but CHED (Commission on Higher Education) has already begun its investigation as well as the DOJ (Department of Justice) and other agencies,” Saguisag said recently on Noli Eala’s Power and Play. “So we await those findings para we can also align.”
“For now, we have initial findings on the case of coach Ayo as UST. And for now, it stands. No rush to reverse or revisit or modify the said judgment. So in other words, status quo.”
The UAAP banned Ayo in September for alleged violation of quarantine protocols during lockdown.
Ayo stepped down from his post before filing an appeal which received endorsement from UST.
The local government of Sorsogon had also cleared Ayo of any quarantine violations in the province.
