TNT books PBA PH Cup finals spot, ousts Phoenix
MANILA, Philippines—TNT booked a spot in the finals of the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup after extinguishing Phoenix, 91-81 in Game 5 of the semifinals on Friday at Angeles University Foundation Gym.
Tropang Giga ended the Fuel Masters’ dream run inside the PBA bubble to return to the championship round where it will face either Ginebra or Meralco, which scheduled to play as of posting.
TNT clamped down on the offense-fueled Phoenix, holding them down to 19% shooting from beyond the arc while converting 31% on its own end.
Led by Ray Parks, Tropang Giga started to pull away late in the third quarter and built a 17-point lead with seven minutes to go to zap the life out of Phoenix.
Parks had another phenomenal showing of 26 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in over 45 minutes of action for TNT.
Never given an inch by TNT, Phoenix’s key guys Matthew Wright and Jayson Perkins combined for just 24 points. Calvin Abueva led his team with 23 points and 13 rebounds.
