MANILA, Philippines—James De Los Santos continued his golden run when he claimed the championship in the third and final leg of the Venice Cup, marking his 26th gold medal in eKATA competitions.
Not only was De Los Santos named the champion of the third leg, he was also the overall winner of the competition when he trumped the United States’ Alfredo Bustamante, 25.9-25.1.
De Los Santos, the no.1 eKATA player in the world, was already a winner in the previous legs of the competition, and he was awarded an automatic bye into the quarterfinals.
His victory against Bustamante was a repeat of his performance back in November when he won the Okinawa eTournament World Series #2.
De Los Santos’ score of 25.9 was his highest since October when he recorded a 26.1 to win the Katana Intercontinental League #3.
“I almost scored another 26. But that will keep me trying harder,” posted De Los Santos on his social media accounts. “The journey continues.”
