MANILA, Philippines — Eumir Marcial is ready to go in his much-awaited professional debut on Thursday (Manila time) at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, USA.
Marcial tipped the scales at 162.4 pounds while his opponent Andrew Whitfield (3-1, 2 KOs) came in at 165.8 pounds during the official weigh-in Wednesday.
The 25-year-old Marcial hopes to make a good first impression against his American foe in a four-round middleweight bout in a Premier Boxing Champions event.
He entered the Mariott Hotel bubble on Monday.
Marcial began training in the US two months ago under the guidance of Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach at Wild Card Gym in LA.
The Zamboanga City native turned pro after signing a six-year deal with MP (Manny Pacquiao) Promotions last July.
Marcial is also using his US training camp as buildup for his upcoming bid in next year’s Tokyo Olympics where he aims to deliver the Philippines’ first-ever gold medal.
