A SHORTHANDED Global side streaked to its seventh straight victory of the season with a 3-0 outclassing of Army Fritz and Macziol Sunday night in the United Football League at the University of Makati field.
Playing minus superstars Angel and Juan Luis Guirado and Misagh Bahadoran, Global still proved peerless with Alex Obiang, Carli De Murga and Mohamad Ghasemi finding the back of the net in a thorough domination of Army.
The win shoved Global back on top with 27 points although it has played one more game than second-running Loyola Meralco with 25 points.
The Guirado brothers are still in Spain attending to personal matters, while Bahadoran is suiting up for the national futsal team seeing action in the Asean Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.
But de Murga, another Fil-Spanish standout, stretched his scoring streak to four matches after directing home a saved shot five minutes from time.
The loss marked the fifth straight game that Army failed to come away with maximum points, putting the Troopers infight for survival to stay in the first division.
Earlier, Pasargad scored only its second win of the season after a 1-0 nipping of Nomads Auction Manila.
In the battle of newly promoted teams, substitute Majid Mahdavi’s 85th minute proved to be the difference as Pasargad hiked its tally to eight points from 10 matches.
Pasargad is now level on points with Green Archers United and a point behind Nomads, who lost for the first time in their last three matches, and Army.
Nnabuife Fidelis, who scored the equalizer in the 2-2 draw against Stallion last Sunday, and Darren Hartmann, came close to scoring in the second half for Nomads.
Fidelis had a free header that sailed just over the bar and Hartmann also saw his curling strike saved.
