Nets guard Dinwiddie undergoes ACL surgery

Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie is expected to make a full recovery following successful surgery Monday on his partially torn right ACL, the team announced.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Riley Williams III at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery. Dinwiddie will begin rehabilitation next week but is out for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.

The knee injury occurred in the third quarter of the Nets’ 106-104 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Dec. 27.

Dinwiddie, 27, started the first three games of the season alongside Kyrie Irving in the backcourt for the Nets. Dinwiddie averaged 6.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

He averaged career-best totals in points (20.6) and assists (6.8) in 64 games (49 starts) for the Nets last season.

A second-round pick by Detroit in 2014, Dinwiddie has averaged 12.9 points, 5.0 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 320 career games (133 starts) with the Pistons (2014-16) and Nets.
