MANILA, Philippines—Marathon star Mary Joy Tabal is now engaged.
The Filipino Olympian said “yes” to the proposal boyfriend Dan Jimenez, a triathlete and a member of the Philippine Navy, in a private celebration.
“Was only dreaming for this day to happen! My heart’s crying out with so much joy!” posted Tabal on her Facebook account. “Thank you my Baby Dan. It’s a yes!”
She posted photos of the emotional moment on her Facebook account.
Tabal and Jimenez have been dating for close to three years now.
A member of the Philippine contingent in the 2016 Rio Olympics, Tabal is the first female marathon runner from the country to qualify for the Olympics.
She also won gold in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games for marathon and two silvers in the 2019 and 2015 competitions along with six Milo Marathon crowns.
