Nadal lauds Eala after breakthrough pro win
MANILA, Philippines — Tennis great Rafael Nadal heaped praise for Alex Eala after the Filipino rising star’s first professional title win.
Eala, a scholar of the Rafa Nadal Academy in Spain, ruled the women’s singles of the ITF W15 Manacor Pro Tournament Sunday night.
“Keep up the good work and attitude. #vamos,” Nadal, the world No. 2, added.
“Congratulations @alex.eala for this important moment in your career. We are all very happy for you!” Nadal posted on Instagram.
The 15-year-old Eala came back to beat Spain’s Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2, in the final.
Eala has picked up where she left off in 2020, where she won the Australian Open girls doubles title and reached the French Open girls singles semifinal.
