MANILA, Philippines — Ronald Tubid is back with the Terrafirma franchise but this time, as a coach.

The nine-time PBA champion joined Johnedel Cardel’s coaching staff together with former La Salle coach Gian Nazario, replacing Art dela Cruz and Hubert delos Santos, as per the league’s official website.

Raymond Tiongco remained as one of the Dyip’s assistant coaches to help Cardel and team consultant Joe Lipa turn their team around for the 2021 season after a subpar 2020 campaign that saw the club finish with a 1-10 record.

Tubid played for the Dyip from 2017 to 2018 before he ultimately finished his career with San Miguel wherein he won his last two titles—the 2019 Philippine and Commissioner’s Cups.

Though he won seven titles with San Miguel, he still left some unfinished matters with the club.

Tubid featured in an altercation during practice that involved import Dez Wells, Arwind Santos, and Kelly Nabong.

The scuffle resulted to Wells flying back to the United States and coincidentally the Beermen failing to capture that elusive Grand Slam.
