Alex Eala cracks top 1000 in WTA rankings

MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala continues her meteoric rise in the women’s tennis ladder.

After a successful campaign in the W15 Manacor ITF Rafa Nadal World Tennis Tour, Eala has cracked the top 1000 of the WTA singles rankings at 942.

Eala’s big leap—jumping 248 spots—comes after claiming her first professional title.

She then followed up her breakthrough with a quarterfinals berth in the second leg of the tournament.

Eala currently has 17 points after just four tournaments played.

Australia’s Ash Barty tops the list with Romania’s Simona Halep and Japan’s Naomi Osaka at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

USA’s Sofia Kenin, the reigning Australian Open champion, and Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina round out the top five.
