Tolomia’s triple lifts FEU past Adamson in Filoil Pre-season Cup

MANILA, Philippines — Far Eastern University leaned on clutch triple from Cris Tolomia to hold on to a 67-60 victory over hard luck Adamson University in the Filoil Flying V Pre-Season Cup at the Arena in San Juan.

Tolomia knocked down a wide open triple with 34.7 seconds left for the Tamaraws, who missed the services of Terrence Romeo and Clarence Foronda to douse the Falcons’ uprising.

Roger Pogoy iced the victory with two clutch freethrows with 1.6 after he was fouled by Adamson newcomer Jericho Cruz on a scramble for the ball.

Tolomia finished with 10 points and four assists while RR Garcia and Anthony Hargrove added 12 markers apiece for FEU, which notched its second win in the tournament with a loss.

Adamson, which had a score to settle with FEU after a heartbreaking loss in the semifinals of the UAAP last season, struggled mightily from the stripe all game long, missing 15 freethrows .

The Falcons were able to slash down the lead to 60-62 on efforts from Cruz and Eric Cabigas with 50 seconds left but not before they missed countless undergoal attempts.

Eric Camson led Adamson on a losing cause with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Alex Nuyles added 10 points and nine rebounds.
