NBA G League: Ignite books last playoff spot

MANILA, Philippines — G League Ignite clinched a playoff spot after routing Austin, 127-92, in the elimination round of the NBA G League Sunday (Manila time) at AdventHealth Arena inside Walt Disney World Resort.

Ignite built a sizable 29-19 lead at the end of the first quarter and that foundation was big enough for the youngsters to hold off the Spurs.

That lead ballooned to 34 points, 100-66, in the final seconds of the third quarter after Isaiah Todd’s jumper off of Bobby Brown’s assist.

Ignite moved to eighth in the standings with an 8-7 record.

Veteran Amir Johnson went perfect from the field going 12-of-12 for 27 points while the 19-year-old Todd put up 25 points and 11 rebounds.

Jalen Green, already considered as a lottery pick in the coming 2021 NBA Draft, added 18 points while fellow prospect Daishen Nix had 12 points, six rebounds, and nine assists.

Quinndary Weatherspoon had 22 points to lead Austin which already clinched its own playoff spot as it sits at a fourth seed tie with Delaware at 10-5.
