AT LEAST 180 participants battle it out for championship berths starting at noon today in the semifinal round of the 1st Sagupaan National 9-Cock Derby at the Pasay City Cockpit.
The list of the finalists will be completed after today’s round, according to organizers Eric dela Rosa and Butchoy Olano.
So far, 23 participants have posted similar 5-0 win-loss slates.
Participants with 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 and 4 points will have their final round on Friday. Those with 4.5 and 5 points will compete in the May 7 grand finals.
Preparations are also under way for the staging of the P15-million Sagupaan National 7-Stag Derby in September.
Next week, heads of breeders groups will meet with chief organizer, Rep. Patrick Antonio, to finalize the mechanics of the “Sagupaan” stag series.
