ATENEO, Hope Christian High School and STI bested their respective rivals to forge a three-way tie for the FCBL-Freego Cup lead at the Buddhacare gym in Quezon City over the weekend.
With Anton Asistio and Thirdy Ravena presiding over the team’s well-balanced attack, the Blue Eaglets defeated the Far Eastern U Baby Tamaraws, 75-67, for their second straight win in three games.
Ravena, who emerged as Freego Best Player of the Game, and Asistio banged in 17 points apiece as Ateneo kept abreast of defending champion Hope Christian and STI in the event also sponsored by Smart.
Drawing inspired plays from veteran John Apacible and new recruit Kurt Trangia, Hope Christian surprised UAAP champion National U, 71-68, while STI whipped Malayan School (Mapua), 66-55.
Reigning Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association champion Chiang Kai Shek College also barged into the win-column with a 63-59 win over Adamson.
The Bullpups opened their campaign with a 75-69 win over the Eaglets.
