MANILA, Philippines — Jenelyn Olsim had a stunning debut in the main roster when she submitted contender Maira Mazar in the third round of their strawweight bout in ONE: Fists of Fury III at Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Olsim finished things off by catching Mazar’s takedown attempt and slapping in a power guillotine that forced the Brazilian to tap with 41 seconds left in the fight.
Team Lakay’s prospect was aggressive from the opening bell, trading shots with the No. 5 strawweight in the promotion with Olsim eventually getting the upper hand by scoring a couple of knockdowns in the first round.
Mazar found her groove in the second scoring a late takedown and seeing the end of the round holding dominant position on the mat.
The win saw Olsim, a Southeast Asian Games silver medalist in Muay Thai, improve to a 4-2 card while also marking her first submission win since her professional debut in 2016.
Mazar, who trains under Evolve MMA in Singapore, dropped to 7-4, losing the second of her last three fights.
