MANILA, Philippines — Stephen Loman hopes to get one back for Team Lakay when he clashes with John Lineker in his ONE Championship debut next month.

Loman won’t have any shortage of motivation heading into the bout with Lineker coming off a stoppage win over another Team Lakay star in Kevin Belingon last November.

“This will add motivation because he beat Kevin,” Loman said during a Zoom media availability Tuesday.

“I want to take that loss back for Kevin and I will do everything to avenge that loss during the fight.”

But Loman (13-2) knows he faces a tall order against the more experienced Lineker (33-9), who is a veteran in the UFC.

Fortunately for Loman, he’s gotten a lot of help during his buildup especially from Belingon himself.

The 30-year-old Lineker showed his striking prowess in his TKO victory over Belingon and it’s also the same thing that worries Loman in what promises to be a scintillating encounter between two superb strikers.

“He really hits hard. He has fast combinations from head to body that I need to avoid so I’m really training hard on my defense,” said Loman, who was the bantamweight champion at BRAVE CF before joining ONE last month.
