Two Mindanao squads join VisMin Super Cup

MANILA, Philippines — The VisMin Super Cup welcomed two more teams for its Mindanao Leg.

Ozamis and Tawi-Tawi have bolstered the competition and will be pitted against other powerhouse teams in Mindanao.

Team owners Ramoncito Talisayon (Ozamis) and Wesley Alley Sun (Tawi-Tawi) said joining the VisMin Super Cup is also a way to promote tourism in the respective cities.

The VisMin Super Cup, which kicks off with the Visayas Leg on April 9 in Cebu, is the first professional basketball league in the Philippines.

The Mindanao leg follows after the Visayas leg wraps up.

The new squads will compete against the Pagadian Explorers, Roxas Vanguards, Cagayan de Oro Rafters, Sindanang Saints, Zamboanga City Los Valientes, and the Basilan Peace Riders.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still at large in the country, the league is aiming to generate livelihood for players, coaches, and other personnel affected by the health crisis.
