The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) was forced to lock down its premises for 10 days after 63 personnel tested positive from COVID-19.
PSC executive director Guillermo Iroy Jr. said both administrative offices at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila and PhilSports Complex in Pasig City will be cleansed and disinfected before operations resume.
Iroy pointed out the day-to-day office operations of the sports agency would shift to work-from-home arrangements during the lockdown starting Tuesday to ensure that the delivery of services for the national athletes won’t be impeded as he assured that PSC employees will continue performing their duties over the next 10 days to avoid disruption of its operations and prevent delays, especially the monthly salaries and allowances of the 300-plus employees and about 1,500 athletes and coaches under its payroll. “We hope to break the transmission and arrest the spread of the virus among our employees,’’ said PSC chief of staff Marc Edward Velasco.
A total of 41 positive results initially came out from the testing when the request for a lockdown was submitted to Malacañang. INQ
