MANILA, Philippines – For Chris Camus, the feeling is mutual.
After exhausting all of his playing years in the UAAP, the Fil-am from Southern California notes one thing that he would miss from the collegiate ranks.
“There’s no crowd like the UAAP,” says Camus.
The forward with a 6-foot-4 frame shares that it is indeed a sad thing for him, or anybody for that matter, to leave the Tigers this season. “It is a different feeling when the support comes from your school. There’s nothing like the support from the UST community,” he says.
Camus, a Fil-am who studied in Buena Park High School in California, had to sit out his first two years in UST for residency, per the player eligibility rules of the league. He then showcased his hustle and energy in front of the UST crowd for four fruitful seasons, two of which the Growling Tigers entered the Final Four.
But despite his non-entry in the UAAP this season, Camus, who has one year left as a marketing major in UST’s College of Commerce and Business Administration, says that he is enjoying his time. “I am enjoying basketball. I play here [in Blackwater] in the D-League. There’s no rush, no pressure,” he said.
“For now, I have no plans of declaring for the [2012 PBA] draft. I’m looking on how I will fare here in the D-League. If I can make a good performance out of my stint here, maybe I will for the next drafts, but that’s all in the future.”
