MANILA, Philippines—John Riel Casimero has yapped at Guillermo Rigondeaux since the tail end of 2020 and he has no plans of stopping, months before their showdown.

The WBO World bantamweight champion took to Twitter to once again send some verbal taunts toward the WBA “regular” champion.

“It’s on!” posted Casimero Friday. “Magsimula ka na mag jogging para ready ka na tumakbo sa August @RigoElChacal305.”

(Better start jogging so you’re ready to run come August.)

Casimero and Rigondeaux first exchanged words in December 2020 and took it up a notch when Showtime announced their fight for August 15 (Manila time).

Rigondeaux was the first to publicly talk about Casimero when he spoke to BoxingScene.com about a potential bout against the Filipino.

“He’s a veteran and I respect him as a champion, but I have [respect] for everyone and I know how to adapt to the opponent, whoever it is, when the bell rings. I’ve fought in several divisions and I’ve been in this sport for a long time,” said Rigondeaux back in December.

Casimero, though, went straight ahead to trash talk.

“Let’s go, bro! No running! Just destroying each other’s face,” posted Casimero on Twitter upon reading of Rigondeaux.

Casimero was never shy to talking smack with anyone in the sport, calling out The Ring, IBF, and WBA Super champion Naoya Inoue and even fellow Filipino and IBF super flyweight titleholder Jerwin Ancajas.

Ancajas responded to his fellow Filipino boxer in a respectful manner while Inoue has ignored his taunts.
