Bowles, Yap lead Llamados to 82-66 drubbing of Tropang Texters

MANILA, Philippines – Denzel Bowles and James Yap combined for 58 points as B-Meg pulled away late en route to an emphatic 82-66 triumph over Talk ‘N Text Wednesday and move a win from clinching the PBA Commissioner’s Cup title.

Bowles and Yap scored the Llamados last 18 points in the final period where they turned a tight-knit game to a one-sided affair.

“It took a tremendous effort by us to win this basketball game. We gave our absolute all to win that game,” said B-Meg head coach Tim Cone.

It was just a seven-point game, 66-59, in favor of B-Meg after a Jimmy Alapag three before the Llamados leaned on their stars to close the contest.

Yap split the defense for a beeline drive then Bowles hit back-to-back jumpers and all of a sudden B-Meg’s lead had put the game out of reach as it sparked a 16-7 run in the final six minutes.

The Tropang Texters were held to their lowest output in seven years.

Yap ended up with 30 points on four-of-four shooting from deep to go along with nine rebounds while Bowles put on a shooting clinic for a 28-point night on top of 18 rebounds and four blocks.

Jared Dillinger had a TNT high of 18 points.

Game 6 is set on Friday here at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
