ONE: Vera, Bhullar title fight back on for May 15

MANILA, Philippines — The ONE Championship heavyweight title showdown between champion Brandon Vera and Arjan Bhullar is finally back on.

Vera will defend his crown in the main event of ONE: Dangal on May 15 in Singapore, a year after the two warriors were supposed to meet had it not been for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 43-year-old Vera (16-8) will defend his belt for just the third time since winning it in 2015.

He last fought in October 2019 when he challenged and lost to then light heavyweight champion Aung La N Sang via second-round TKO.

But Vera has been unbeatable as a heavyweight at 4-0 with all of his wins coming in the first round.

Bhullar, the decorated Indian-Canadian wrestler, however, is deemed as a legitimate threat to Vera’s reign.

The London Olympian has only lost once in his MMA career. In his ONE Championship debut, he beat Mauro Cerilli by unanimous decision in October 2019.

Bhullar (10-1), a gold medalist in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, went 3-1 while campaigning in the UFC.
