AFPGC tabs Asian Ladies record win; Salivio rules
Armed Forces of the Philippines Golf Club turned in its best round of 152 Thursday to post a record 72-point romp over Tagaytay Highlands in Group I, and two Camp John Hay teams likewise cruised to victories in their respective divisions at the close of the Asian Ladies Team Golf Championships in Baguio.
Matet Salivio shot 52 points under the Molave system of scoring to lead AFP’s successful title-retention bid with a 54-hole total of 447, including earlier rounds of 145 and 150, while clinching the individual crown with a 163 aggregate.
The other members of the team in the four-to-play, three-to-count tournament were Josie Untal, Mabel Salivio and Karen Kime.
Article continues after this advertisementTagaytay Highlands, made up of Gie Bote, Hedy See, Emalina Flores and Nini Eustaquio, scored 127 for a 375 total and second place.
John Hay 2’s Oh Kyung-ja, Eve Aquino, Hur Kun-soo and Keum Myung-heui slowed down with a 105 but still clinched the Group 2 crown with a 331 total for a 10-point win over Alabang, which had a 321 after a 115. John Hay two had earlier rounds of 112 and 114.
John Hay 3, composed of Jung Jung-soon, Norma Lawrence, Leonor Corpuz and Kim Ok-hee, closed out with a 118 for a 337 to rule Group 3 via a 26-point romp over Baguio Country Club (114-311) in the three-day tournament sponsored by Golforce, Poblador Bautista & Reyes Law Offices, Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Camp John Hay Manor, Le Chef, Camp John Hay Development Corp., Rizgolf Sports Marketing and Boracay Sands.
