Defending champion San Beda squares off against Group A cellar-dweller Perpetual Help today heavily favored to stretch its winning streak to seven games in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Preseason Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
The Red Lions, who lead Group A with a 6-0 slate and hope to sweep their elimination assignments before going to a training camp in Los Angeles, goes up against the winless Altas at 1:45 p.m.
In other games, the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals battle the Adamson University Falcons at 3:30 p.m. followed by the skirmish between Jose Rizal University and the Lyceum of the Philippines Pirates at 5:15 p.m.
Red Lions head coach Ronnie Magsanoc said that the team is not looking at records but on how they will respond to the other teams in the quarterfinals.
“What we do is look at ourselves and try to improve it,” Magsanoc said.
Expected to lead the Lions are swingman Julius Armon and center Ola Adeogun. Armon leads the team in scoring with 11.2 points per game while Adeogun is averaging a near double-double of 9.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. Rodolfo Lozada, Contributor
