Cris Nievarez pulled off a historic feat for Philippine rowing after punching a ticket to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

“Our rowing team is focused and determined. They are soft spoken and humble, too. When you observe them train everyday at the La Mesa Dam, you will realize their passion and desire to excel,” said Gregorio.
Nievarez became the third Pinoy rower in the Olympics that took 21 years to achieve since Benjie Tolentino did the trick in 2000 Sydney. National coach Ed Maerina was the first Filipino rower in the Summer Games in 1988 Seoul.
