San Beda, JRU triumph in the Filoil Pre-Season Cup

MANILA, Philippines – San Beda got a fitting sendoff with a 74-55 dismantling of Perpetual Help Friday in the Filoil Flying V Pre-Season Cup at the Arena in San Juan.

The Red Lions, who are flying to United States to prepare for the upcoming NCAA season, roared to their seventh victory sans a loss and drew another dominating performance from Julius Armon.

Armon, a valuable addition to San Beda which lost a handful of key players, exploded for 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting, along with five rebounds and four assists.

In the night cap, Jose Rizal University trumped Lyceum of the Philippines, 83-70.

Main man Nate Matute lead the Heavy Bombers, who took charge in the fourth quarter and pulled away, with 17 points.
