US tryouts to be held for potential Gilas Women players

MANILA, Philippines — The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas has teamed up with the Fil-Am Nation Select to hold a Gilas Pilipinas Women’s preliminary pool tryout in the United States on June 4 and 5.
The tryout will be led by Gilas Women head coach Pat Aquino, who has been in the US since last year looking for potential talents for the national team.

“The event hopes to select the best of the best Filipino female athletes in the United States for our Senior Gilas Teams both for 5on5 and 3×3,” an invitation by the SBP read.
“During these tryouts, we will also discuss the necessary documents needed for an athlete to be eligible to play and compete in FIBA tournaments.”
Fil-Am Nation Select has been serving as a platform for Filipino-American athletes in several sports.
