MANILA, Philippines — Edward Kelly picked up a much-needed win in ONE: Full Blast in Singapore to resuscitate his flat-lining bid for a title shot in the featherweight division.

The Team Lakay veteran earned a split decision victory over Ahmed Faress of Egypt in the tape-delayed event that aired Friday night from Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The result was a sigh of relief from Kelly who had thought about retirement after having lost three of his last four fights heading into the Faress bout.

Kelly improved to 13-8 but not after overcoming a second-round scare.

After catching a kick, Kelly found himself trapped in a tight triangle by Faress (16-4).

Fortunately for Kelly, he kept his composure and managed to slither his way out of trouble. He then regained control of the match in the final round to come away with the win.
