MANILA, Philippines — Damian Lillard single-handedly almost willed the Portland Trail Blazers to victory against the Denver Nuggets in Game 5 of their first-round playoff series.
Lillard shot the lights out with 55 points built on an NBA playoff record of 12 3-pointers in a 147-140 loss in double overtime.
The 30-year-old guard became the first player in NBA history to record a 55-point, 10-assist game in postseason history.
He is only the fourth player in playoff history to have a 50-point, 10-assist performance after Jerry West, Sleepy Floyd and Russell Westbrook.
The six-time All-Star also had six rebounds and three blocks and played close to 52 minutes. He shot 17-of-24 from the field, including a blistering 12-of-17 clip from downtown.
Lillard and the Blazers look to avoid elimination as the series shifts back to Oregon for Game 6 on Friday.
