Ahead of ONE: Full Blast II, Mongkolpetch warns Elias Mahmoudi: ‘Watch out for my fists’

Although there will be no Filipinos competing on the card, fans will still experience an action-packed  ONE Super Series Muay Thai main event as Mongkolpetch Petchyindee Academy takes on #4-ranked  flyweight Elias “The Sniper” Mahmoudi

The clash could serve as a gateway for Filipino fans who may not yet know about ONE’s all-striking  league – ONE Super Series.

Mongkolpetch Petchyindee Academy

Mongkolpetch comes in as one of the more technical fighters in ONE Super Series. He’s a Muay Thai  athlete in every sense of the word, skilled with both his elbows and knees.

He made a name for himself outside of ONE after winning the Lumpinee Stadium World Title in 2017,  and he has yet to taste defeat in The Home Of Martial Arts after facing Alexi “Phet” Serepisos, Joseph  “The Hurricane” Lasiri, and Kun Khmer Flyweight World Champion Sok Thy

An impressive win over fourth-ranked Mahmoudi could certainly tow him closer to a showdown with  compatriot and current ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man”  Jitmuangnon

But Mongkolpetch can’t look past Mahmoudi, especially after the Algerian Frenchman pushed the  Thai’s teammate and former divisional king Petchdam “The Baby Shark” Petchyindee Academy past  his limits.

“I had almost three weeks to prepare for this fight. Me and my trainers worked together to study the  tapes of Elias’s previous fights carefully, especially the match between him and Petchdam,”  Mongkolpetch said.

“Even though they fought under kickboxing rules, we still can see his Muay Thai technique and his  counter gameplan.”

While the Thai is known as the more technical fighter of the two, Mahmoudi comes in with a flashier  style, often attacking from angles that are hard to see.

“Elias has experience in both Muay Thai and kickboxing. He is a sharp and heavy hitting striker,  especially with his fist and elbows,” Mongkolpetch said.

“His weaknesses, as I can see, are his legs and chin. He is tall like Alaverdi Ramazanov, who fought  [my teammate] Capitan [Petchyindee Academy]. So, we decided to use the same plan, aiming for his  calf.

“This trick should allow us to withstand him because he is quite tall. I’ve focused on practicing my  punch specifically for him too.”

If Mongkolpetch can hurdle Mahmoudi, then it would further strengthen his case for a shot at gold.

“I’m ready, 100 percent. I’ve won three fights in a row, and if I can win this fight, I may get into the  rankings and have a chance to challenge for the World Title against Rodtang, which is my ultimate  goal,” he said.

“In this fight, I’m going to knock him out, and I want to warn Elias: ‘Watch out for my fist.’”

In the co-main event, Filipino fans will see a familiar face when Amarsanaa “Spear” Tsogookhuu takes  on unbeaten submission specialist Ben Wilhelm in a lightweight clash.

Tsogookhuu hasn’t competed since his unsuccessful outing against Eduard “Landslide” Folayang in Manila, and he wants nothing more than to get back to winning ways against the 5-0 Wilhelm.
