Roberto Gomez bows out in World Pool Championship
MANILA, Philippines—Filipino cue artist Roberto Gomez lasted until the Last 16 of the World Pool Championship, losing his final match against Skyler Woodward, 11-5, at Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes in England.
Gomez had an early 5-2 lead against the American but lost all momentum allowing Woodward to tie it at 7-7.
Article continues after this advertisementWoodward then secured the next four racks to advance to the quarterfinals but he lost to eventual champion Albin Ouschan of Austria, 11-5.
Gomez won his two preliminary matches first with a close 9-8 win over English Stewart Colclough.

Interestingly, Gomez defeated Ouschan in the winners’ qualification 9-7.
Gomez then had quick victories over South African Muhammed Daydat, 11-2, in the Last 64 and Singapore’s Aloysius Yapp, 11-7, in the Last 32.
