MANILA, Philippines—Filipino cue artist Roberto Gomez lasted until the Last 16 of the World Pool Championship, losing his final match against Skyler Woodward, 11-5, at Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes in England.
Gomez had an early 5-2 lead against the American but lost all momentum allowing Woodward to tie it at 7-7.
Woodward then secured the next four racks to advance to the quarterfinals but he lost to eventual champion Albin Ouschan of Austria, 11-5.
Gomez won his two preliminary matches first with a close 9-8 win over English Stewart Colclough.

Interestingly, Gomez defeated Ouschan in the winners’ qualification 9-7.
Gomez then had quick victories over South African Muhammed Daydat, 11-2, in the Last 64 and Singapore’s Aloysius Yapp, 11-7, in the Last 32.
