MANILA, Philippines—Filipino teenager Camille Nolasco was chosen to be part of the NBA Academy Women’s Virtual Program, making her the only player from the country to be part of the league’s youth development project.

The virtual program is an eight-week basketball and leadership development program for top female high school players, aged 14 to 17, outside of the United States.

Nolasco is part of the 50-girl lineup from the world and 10 from the Asia Pacific region.

In the two months that the girls will receive NBA education—from basketball to life skills—with current and former WNBA players and NBA Academy staff serving as their mentors.

Participants will receive weekly virtual basketball sessions while also competing in challenges pitting them against their fellow students.

There will also be sessions centered on leadership development, nutrition, goal setting, personal branding, mental health and wellness, player pathway education, and women’s empowerment.
