MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Volleyball Federation announced that it will hold an eight-team men’s tournament in September.
Metro Manila clubs Cignal HD, Go for Gold-Air Force, Navy, Instituto Estetico Manila, and PLDT were invited in to the virtual meeting that PNVF President Ramon “Tats” Suzara presided.
Also in the meeting were a team each from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
“It is also one of the PNVF’s 10-point agendas which is to serve Filipino families with entertainment through volleyball and to make volleyball a widely played sport by elevating it through high-performance competition,” said Suzara in a statement.
The competition will take place inside a bubble environment from September 19 to 26 with the eight teams playing across a total of 24 matches.
Ilocos Norte’s Centennial Arena in Laoag City or Pampanga’s Bren Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando are seen as potential venues for the tournament.
The competition will break the teams into four groups with the clubs playing in a single round robin in their respective pools.
Teams are given until the first of September to submit their lineups.
