MANILA, Philippines — Rain or Shine cruised to its second straight win at the expense of Blackwater, 71-62, in the PBA Philippine Cup Sunday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Elasto Painters climbed to the top of the standings with a 2-0 record while the Bossing are in the inverse with a 0-2 card.

Banking on its defensive resiliency, Rain or Shine limited Blackwater to just 10 fourth quarter points on a paltry 2-of-16 shooting.

“Our defensive identity carried us tonight,” said Painters head coach Chris Gavina. “Although it was a low-scoring game, we had to have the disposition on the defensive end.”

Rey Nambatac finished with a game-high 21 points to go along 12 rebounds while Javee Mocon also had his own double-double of 12 points and 12 boards.

Beau Belga missed out on a double-double, finishing with eight points and 10 rebounds.

Kelly Nabong led Blackwater with 18 points and seven rebounds while Ed Daquioag added 10 points.
