MANILA, Philippines — Filipino boxer Irish Magno suffered an injury while training in Tokyo on Monday, as per Team Philippines Chef de Mission Mariano “Nonong” Araneta said.

Magno hurt her right ankle while jumping rope but her injury doesn’t seem to be much of a concern as she was quickly given treatment by her coach Nolito “Boy” Velasco.

“I immediately put some ice on it and when doc Randy (Molo) took a look at it, she was okay,” Velasco said.

The national boxing team arrived at the Olympic Village over the weekend.

The 29-year-old Iloilo native is one of four Filipino boxers who will participate in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. She will compete in the women’s flyweight class.

Middleweight Eumir Marcial, women’s featherweight Nesthy Petecio and flyweight Carlo Paalam round out the Filipino pugs in Tokyo.
