MANILA, Philippines — Creamline got a big lift from new acquisition Tots Carlos to fight off PetroGazz, 24-26, 28-26, 25-22, 25-20, in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference Tuesday at PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.
Carlos came off the bench and stepped up after Jema Galanza dealt with an apparent knee injury while Alyssa Valdez led the way for the defending champions.
Valdez fired a team-high 16 points as the Cool Smashers notched their second win in as many games in the bubble conference.
“Like what coach said, Tots is always ready and she knows her role. It’s very professional of her to have that kind of mentality. That’s why when she enters the game she produces not just for herself,” said Valdez, who also collected 21 digs and 18 excellent receptions, in Filipino.
Creamline has now won 22 consecutive games dating back to 2019 Open Conference where it completed a 20-0 sweep.
Jeanette Panaga, who is also part of the Cool Smashers’ new recruits, added 15 points including six blocks.
Mainstay Jia Morado provided significant contribution as well with 35 excellent sets for Creamline.
Ces Molina led all scorers with 18 points for the Angels, who slipped to 1-1.
