Kemark Cariño joins Japan B.League 2nd division team

MANILA, Philippines—Big man Kemark Cariño joined the growing list of Filipinos in the Japanese B.League with the Gilas product signing with Division 2 club Aomori Wats, the club announced Wednesday.

The 6-foot-9 center is the latest Filipino talent to sign a professional contract in the B.League following San-En’s Thirdy Ravena, Ibaraki’s Javi Gomez de Liaño, and Earth Friends’ Juan Gomez de Liaño.

Ravena and Javi are both in Division 1 while Juan is in Division 2.

Kiefer Ravena was also announced to be part of Shiga but he’s still in the PBA with NLEX to honor his contract with the Road Warriors.

Cariño, who played collegiate basketball with San Beda, last played with Gilas in the second window of the 2021 Fiba Asia Cup Qualifiers in Manama, Bahrain.

The lanky big averaged 3.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 13.6 minutes of play.
