MANILA, Philippines—Barangay Ginebra sent Blackwater to its third straight loss and notched its first win in the process, 96-81, in the PBA Philippine Cup Friday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The Gin Kings improved to a 1-1 card while the Bossing fell to the deep end with a 0-3 record.
After holding a comfortable 45-32 lead, the Gin Kings saw their lead dwindle to just to two, 69-67, at the end of the third when Blackwater mounted a 15-4 run.
Ginebra, though, went on a 7-0 run that Japeth Aguilar capped off with a dunk to give the Gin Kings an 86-77 lead with 3:49 to play
Christian Standhardinger then went on a personal 6-0 run to give Ginebra a 94-81 lead with 1:21 remaining.
Pringle led the Gin Kings with 19 points, six rebounds, and six steals while LA Tenorio added 17 points and seven assists.
Prince Caperal finished with a double-double of 16 points and 11 boards for Ginebra while Standhardinger had his own with 11 points and 19 rebounds.
Aguilar, who finished with 14 points, joined the 5,000-point club when he made his first basket of the game.
Mike Tolomia had a game-high 22 points, on 8-of-12 shooting, for the Bossing.
