Viloria ready against Romero Sunday

BRIAN Viloria is so pumped up with his grudge fight against Mexican Omar Nino Romero this Sunday that the Filipino-American has already made the weight and said he’s ready to go yesterday.

“I can weigh in right now and make the weight,” Viloria said during a press conference of Island Assault 4 at the Discovery Suites in Ortigas.

“I’ve trained harder than before and it gonna show Sunday, expect fireworks,” said Viloria, who, however, clarified that he isn’t looking past Romero, who beat him by unanimous decision in their first encounter before salvaging a majority draw in their return bout, which was later changed to no-decision after traces of illegal substances were found in Romero’s urine.

Now, five years later, Viloria is raring to exact revenge and keep the WBO flyweight title he snatched from highly touted Giovani Segura late last year.

Though Romero, who’s still four pounds over the 112-lb weight limit, acknowledged that Viloria has evolved into a better fighter, the former world champion said he’s made adjustments in his first major test as a flyweight.

Fighting in the main supporting bout  are former world champions Rodel Mayol and Julio Cesar Miranda, both former victims of Romero and Viloria, respectively.

The bout, produced by Solar Sports, will be aired by GMA-7.
