Despite the reimposition of another hard lockdown on the National Capital Region, the NCAA is pushing through with its basketball and volleyball competitions in the coming weeks.
This was confirmed by the NCAA Season 96 management committee, which opted to transform the competitions into an individual skills game to better fit the online set-up.
“We have already the IATF (inter-agency task force) approval,” said mancom member Peter Cayco of Arellano University.
Volleyball will have competitions in serving, spikes, setting and digging, while basketball will have the usual skills challenge adopted by professional leagues.
Shortened by the coronavirus pandemic, the NCAA had adopted just four sports for the season being hosted by Letran.
Taekwondo spin-off poomsae, freestyle and speed-kicking have been concluded last month. All of the events are pre-taped and uploaded online.
Meanwhile, Neymark Digno of Lyceum swept his way to the seniors men’s chess gold medal recently.
The 22-year-old downed Carl Jaedrianne Ancheta of Arellano in the final match. Before that, he also crushed Carl Zirex Sato of Perpetual Help College.
