LiAngelo Ball on Hornets’ Summer League roster

Charlotte’s Summer League roster includes LiAngelo Ball, older brother of Hornets star and reigning NBA Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball.

LiAngelo Ball, a 6-foot-5 forward, will join first-round draft picks James Bouknight and Kai Jones for the 10-day event that gets underway on Sunday in Las Vegas.

LiAngelo Ball’s older brother, Lonzo, plays for the New Orleans Pelicans and was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 draft.

LaMelo Ball was drafted No. 3 overall in 2020. He averaged 15.7 points, 6.1 assists and 5.9 rebounds in 51 games for the Hornets last season.

LiAngelo Ball, 22, signed a training camp contract with the Detroit Pistons on Dec. 2, 2020 but was waived less than two weeks later.

He enrolled at UCLA in 2017 but was arrested for allegedly shoplifting in Shanghai, China, before the regular season opener and was suspended by the team. He withdrew from school and was not selected in the 2018 NBA Draft.

LiAngelo Ball played professionally in Lithuania in 2018 and later competed from 2018-19 for the Los Angeles Ballers in the Junior Basketball Association, a league founded by his father, LaVar Ball.
