Southern Luzon breeders top ‘Bullang Bullang’
GAMEFOWL breeders from Southern Luzon dominated the 1,260-strong “NFGB Bullang Bullang National 8-Bullstag Derby” last week at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Four of the seven co-champions are Southern Luzon breeders: partners Dominador Uy and John Melendres and Arnold dela Cruz (Batangas Breeders Club), Tony Mabasa (Rizal Gamefowl Breeders Association) and Vic Setias (Group of Palawan Gamefowl Breeders).
The Panay Gamefowl Breeders Association (Pagba) also had a good showing after Fred Palmares and Nestor Bretana joined the champions’ league.
Article continues after this advertisementThe seventh champion, Winchell Richwell of Samuel Lam and Arthur Celeste, came from the Gamefowl Breeders Association of Pangasinan (GBAP).
Gov. Jayjay Suarez of Quezon Cockers and Breeders Association (QCBA) and Jose Tico of Pagba emerged as runners-up with 7.5 points each.
After the “Bullang Bullang” series, breeders affiliated with the National Federation of Gamefowl Breeders (NFGB) are now preparing for the P47-million “NFGB National Bakbakan 11-Stag Derby” (October, November and December).
